Chapter 7 - The Viper's Trap

Victor completely ignored his own safety and forcefully threw his body directly over Lily.
He braced himself fiercely for the absolute destruction of the massive explosion.
But the digital timer simply hit zero and let out a pathetic, highly annoying buzzing sound.
It was completely fake, entirely designed to violently mock his desperate rescue attempt.
Slowly clapping hands echoed loudly from the dark entrance of the underground hallway.
Julian Sterling stepped confidently into the dim light, wearing a perfectly tailored white suit.
Eleanor walked gracefully right beside him, looking completely elegant and thoroughly evil.
"You really are incredibly predictable, Victor," Eleanor laughed with pure, unadulterated cruelty.
Dozens of heavily armed guards flooded the small hallway, completely surrounding Victor and the little girl.
Victor slowly stood up and entirely dropped his stolen pistol onto the cold concrete floor.
"Let the child go, Julian," Victor demanded, his voice completely devoid of any fear.
"She has absolutely nothing to do with our business."
Sterling smiled wickedly and pulled a thick stack of highly forged legal documents from his jacket.
"Sign over your hidden offshore accounts to us, and I will let the brat live," Sterling offered coldly.
Victor looked down at Lily's terrified, tear-stained face and knew he had absolutely no other choice.
He reached out and firmly grabbed the expensive fountain pen from Sterling's hand.
Victor signed his name across the documents, completely surrendering his entire life's work.
May you like
Eleanor smiled triumphantly and immediately ordered the guards to shoot them both anyway.
Suddenly, the expensive pen in Sterling's hand violently exploded into a massive, blinding cloud of white smoke.
