Chapter 5 - The Unexpected Ally
Victor stood perfectly still, his mind racing desperately for any possible means of escape.
"Turn around very slowly," the man with the gun commanded firmly.
Victor raised his hands and turned to face a tall man wearing a standard police detective badge.
The detective suddenly lowered his weapon and let out a massive sigh of profound relief.
"I am Detective Vance, and I am deeply loyal to Thomas," the man explained quickly.
Vance revealed that Thomas had secretly contacted him about Eleanor's terrifying conspiracy weeks ago.
"Thomas is currently being held hostage by Julian Sterling, your biggest corporate rival," Vance stated.
Victor realized his wicked wife had formed a highly lethal alliance with his most dangerous enemy.
Vance ushered them quickly into the back of an unmarked police cruiser parked in the alleyway.
"We are going to raid Sterling's private estate and rescue Thomas tonight," Vance promised.
The detective drove aggressively through the dark city, skillfully avoiding all the major traffic cameras.
Lily finally fell asleep in the backseat, completely exhausted by the horrific trauma of the night.
Victor stared out the window, quietly vowing to completely destroy everyone who had threatened this innocent child.
They safely arrived at the edge of Sterling's massive, heavily fortified property.
Vance parked the cruiser in the dark shadows and handed Victor a loaded tactical pistol.
