Chapter 4 - The Underground Escape

The deafening roar of automatic weapons completely shredded the interior of the safehouse.

Silas tossed a heavy tactical shotgun to Victor and pointed toward the kitchen.

"There is an old smuggler's tunnel beneath the pantry floorboards," Silas yelled over the chaotic gunfire.

"I will hold these mercenaries off while you get the kid to safety."

Victor hesitated, completely unwilling to leave his oldest friend to die in a brutal shootout.

"Go right now, you stubborn fool!" Silas roared, firing his sniper rifle directly through the ruined walls.

Victor grabbed Lily's hand and desperately sprinted toward the dark kitchen.

He violently ripped the wooden floorboards away to reveal a damp, terrifying concrete shaft.

He lowered Lily safely into the darkness before climbing down the rusted iron ladder himself.

The heavy trapdoor slammed shut directly above them, instantly plunging them into absolute pitch-black darkness.

They navigated the freezing, rat-infested sewer tunnels for what felt like an eternity.

Victor used a small emergency flashlight to guide them through the toxic, rising water.

They finally reached an old maintenance grate leading directly up to the deserted city streets.

Victor pushed the heavy iron grate aside and carefully lifted Lily out of the sewer.

As Victor pulled himself up onto the wet asphalt, a cold metallic barrel was violently pressed against the back of his head.

"You really are incredibly hard to kill, Mr. Hale," a dark, sinister voice whispered.
