Chapter 6 - The Belly of the Beast

The catastrophic explosion violently flipped the police cruiser entirely upside down.

Victor woke up coughing heavily as thick, toxic black smoke filled the crushed interior of the vehicle.

He desperately kicked the shattered window away and painfully dragged himself out onto the burning grass.

Vance was entirely unconscious in the driver's seat, bleeding profusely from a severe head wound.

Victor managed to pull the detective safely away from the wreckage just as the gas tank completely ignited.

He frantically searched the burning grass and found Lily sitting completely terrified but miraculously unharmed.

Dozens of armed guards began aggressively rushing toward the fiery crash site from the main estate.

Victor knew they could not possibly fight an entire private army out in the open.

He grabbed Lily and sprinted desperately into the massive drainage pipes running perfectly beneath Sterling's compound.

They crawled quietly through the damp tunnels until they directly reached the underground holding cells.

Victor silently choked out a lone guard and successfully stole a heavy ring of iron keys.

He rushed fiercely toward the final cell at the end of the dark, terrifying hallway.

"Thomas, are you in there?" Victor whispered urgently through the heavy steel door.

He quickly shoved the rusty key into the lock and violently swung the heavy door completely open.

The cell was absolutely empty except for a small, highly sophisticated electronic bomb.

The digital timer was aggressively counting down from exactly three final seconds.
