Chapter 3 - The Ghost from the Past

Victor wildly wrestled the steering wheel and managed to completely regain control of the heavy truck.
He slammed the brakes aggressively, forcing the pursuing vehicle to swerve and crash violently into a massive oak tree.
Victor did not slow down to check the wreckage.
He drove for two agonizing hours until they reached a highly classified, off-the-books safehouse hidden in the city slums.
"Who are you, Lily?" Victor asked gently as he unlocked the heavy iron door of the shelter.
"My daddy is Thomas, your normal driver," she cried softly.
Victor realized Eleanor must have kidnapped or murdered Thomas to seamlessly replace him with the assassin.
He pushed the safehouse door completely open and reached for the light switch.
The lights suddenly flickered on before his hand even touched the wall.
Sitting calmly at the center table was an elderly man cleaning a massive sniper rifle.
It was Silas, a legendary retired mercenary who owed Victor his life.
"Your wife works very fast, Victor," Silas grunted without looking up from his weapon.
"She just successfully declared you mentally unstable and seized total control of your corporate empire."
Victor clenched his fists, completely consumed by an overwhelming desire for revenge.
Suddenly, a small red laser dot appeared directly on Lily's chest through the living room window.

Silas aggressively kicked the wooden table over, violently tackling both Victor and Lily to the floor.
A relentless hail of heavy gunfire shattered the windows into a million terrifying pieces.
