Chapter 5 - The Safe Room

I dropped Prescott to the floor and delivered a swift, brutal kick to his ribs to ensure he stayed down.
I grabbed his fallen pistol and sprinted down the hallway toward the medical wing.
Gunfire erupted from the main foyer as my loyal guards engaged Vane's heavily armed mercenaries.
The mansion was rapidly turning into a chaotic, bloody warzone.
I burst through the doors of the private hospital suite.
Clara was leaning heavily against a medical cart, looking pale but alive thanks to the antidote.
Dr. Yates was frantically unhooking Jonah and Blythe from their monitoring machines.
"We have to move them to the underground bunker right now!" I yelled over the sound of shattered glass.
I scooped Blythe into my arms while Clara managed to lift a terrifyingly weak Jonah.
We ran down the secret servant corridor just as a squad of mercenaries kicked open the main double doors.
Bullets shredded the expensive wallpaper right behind our heads.
I turned and fired three precise shots, dropping the lead attacker instantly.
We reached the hidden steel door of the safe room and quickly barricaded ourselves inside.
The heavy titanium locks clicked into place, buying us a temporary sliver of time.
Blythe was crying softly against my chest, terrified by the loud noises.
I kissed her forehead and promised her that everything was going to be perfectly fine.
Dr. Yates opened his medical bag and began setting up a temporary sterile field on the metal table.
"The antidote worked, but Clara's system is incredibly weak," the doctor warned me.

He looked at me with an expression of sheer desperation.
"If we do the bone marrow extraction right now, her heart might completely stop," Dr. Yates said.
