Chapter 10 - The Fall of the God

I looked at Julian with an expression of deep, mocking pity, which I knew would enrage his narcissistic ego.

"You really think dying in a basement makes you a powerful god, Julian?" I asked softly, stepping slightly to the left.

Julian sneered, his hand trembling as he held the burning flare closer to the leaking tanks.

"I am the one who decides who lives and who dies!" he screamed defensively.

I laughed coldly, telling him that Clara was already safe and that the federal government was seizing his hidden bank accounts right now.

His eyes darted frantically, his massive ego unable to process the absolute totality of his defeat.

That single second of distraction was all the opening I needed.

I reached to my tactical belt and hurled a heavy, specialized foam grenade directly at his feet.

The grenade detonated silently, expanding instantly into a massive, fire-retardant chemical foam that covered him entirely.

The thick foam instantly smothered the burning road flare, neutralizing the explosive threat in the room.

Julian thrashed blindly in the sticky, suffocating chemical mess, completely disarmed and helpless.

Federal agents swarmed into the room seconds later, dragging the pathetic, weeping monster away in heavy iron chains.

Three months later, the nightmare was finally and beautifully over.

Julian was sentenced to multiple consecutive life sentences in a federal supermax prison, his reputation and empire entirely obliterated.

Clara and I were sitting peacefully on the sun-drenched porch of a beautiful beachfront house in Costa Rica.

She looked healthier and happier than she had in years, gently rocking my smiling, healthy grandson in her arms.

We had successfully vanished from the world, enjoying a quiet, beautiful life completely free from fear and abuse.

The gentle sound of the ocean waves crashing against the shore felt like a permanent, well-deserved victory.

I sipped my warm coffee, smiling at the gorgeous sunset painting the horizon.

Suddenly, a massive, heavily armored black SUV slowly pulled into the gravel driveway of our secluded beach house.

A tall man in a tailored suit stepped out, walking silently to the porch and dropping a blood-stained hospital badge onto my wooden table.

He smiled coldly and whispered that Julian was just a very small piece of a much larger, global syndicate.

And now, the true masters of the organization had come to collect the grandson they believed belonged to them.
