Chapter 4 - The Midnight Visitor
Emily aimed the stolen police gun directly at Daniel's chest through the open window.
She screamed that she knew everything about his father and the massive inheritance.
Daniel raised his hands slowly and promised he was completely unarmed.
He urged her to get in the car because the entire police force was hunting her.
Emily hesitated for a brief second before opening the heavy passenger door.
She climbed into the warm leather seat but kept the gun firmly pointed at him.
Daniel aggressively slammed his foot on the gas pedal and sped away from the precinct.
He drove silently through the flooded streets until they reached an abandoned industrial park.
He finally parked the car in a dark alley and turned to face his terrified passenger.
Daniel swore that he just discovered Vanessa's twisted plan thirty minutes ago.
He explained that he reviewed the hidden audio logs from the mansion's security system.
He heard Vanessa paying the corrupt detective to assassinate Emily in the holding cell.
Emily tightened her grip on the gun and asked why he cared about a maid.
Daniel sighed deeply and admitted he had always known she was his half-sister.
He had hired her as a housekeeper to keep her close and secretly protect her.
He never expected Vanessa to uncover the truth and become so incredibly violent.
Emily felt a complicated mix of intense anger and overwhelming relief.
She demanded to know how they were going to prove her absolute innocence.
Daniel stated they needed to find the hidden red ledger Margaret had mentioned.
The ledger contained all the illegal offshore accounts Vanessa used to pay her hitmen.
Emily nodded and told him the ledger was securely hidden inside the old estate boathouse.
Daniel's face turned completely pale when he heard the specific location.
He nervously explained that Vanessa was already hosting a private event at the boathouse tonight.
The building was completely surrounded by her elite private security contractors.
Emily looked down at the heavy gun resting firmly in her lap.
She declared with fierce determination that they were going to crash the party.
