Chapter 8 - The Silent Partner

Shiomara stepped bravely in front of Elena, refusing to let her daughter get hurt.
She stared directly into Victor's cruel eyes, showing absolutely no fear in the face of death.
"You can take the money, but you will never have a soul," Shiomara told him fiercely.
Victor laughed loudly, placing his finger firmly on the trigger of his gun.
Suddenly, a blindingly bright spotlight dropped down from the sky, illuminating the entire dock.
A massive police helicopter hovered just above the water, its loud blades whipping the cold wind.
"Drop your weapons immediately!" a voice boomed from the helicopter's heavy loudspeakers.
Victor's mercenaries began to panic, dropping their rifles and putting their hands in the air.
Victor looked up in absolute fury, refusing to surrender his ultimate victory.
From the shadows of the shipping containers, Sofia limped forward, bleeding heavily but very much alive.
She was holding a sleek black cell phone in her uninjured hand.
"I live-streamed your entire confession and the extortion to the FBI, Victor," Sofia smiled weakly.
Heavily armored tactical police units swarmed the docks, aggressively pushing the mercenaries to the ground.
Two officers grabbed Victor, wrenching his arms behind his back and snapping heavy steel handcuffs on his wrists.
The evil billionaire violently struggled, spitting blood onto the concrete as they dragged him away.

He turned his head to look back at Shiomara with a terrifying, unhinged smile.
"You signed the paper legally, Shiomara, the money is already gone forever!" Victor screamed into the night.
