Chapter 6 - Return to the Mansion

The heavy black hood was roughly yanked from my head, blinding me temporarily with harsh light.
I blinked repeatedly until my eyes finally adjusted to the sickeningly familiar surroundings.
I was kneeling on the pristine marble floor of my own lavish dining room.
The beautiful white-and-gold birthday cake from last night was smashed entirely across the floor.
Broken crystal and spilled red wine stained the expensive Persian rugs like fresh blood.
Elena knelt beside me, shivering violently as a guard kept a cold gun pressed to her neck.
In the center of the ruined room, my husband Alessandro was tightly bound to a heavy wooden chair.
His expensive black suit was torn, and his handsome face was bruised and bleeding heavily.
Ruggero sat comfortably at the head of the table, sipping espresso as if he had not just orchestrated a coup.
Don Carmine stood nearby, happily counting a massive briefcase filled with untraceable diamond bonds.
Ruggero smiled warmly at me, an expression so fake it made my skin physically crawl.
He thanked Carmine for his excellent service and proudly held up the microchip I had surrendered.
Ruggero bragged that he had finally won, successfully eliminating every threat to his absolute power.
He walked over to Alessandro and grabbed him brutally by his dark, blood-matted hair.
Ruggero told my husband that he was going to force him to watch his beloved wife and sister die.
Alessandro looked at me, his eyes burning with an intense, unspoken emotion that I instantly recognized.
It was not despair or defeat, but rather a fierce, silent command to pay close attention.
He shifted his bound hands slightly, catching the bright chandelier light on a small, hidden object.
It was a jagged piece of broken wineglass, concealed perfectly within his bloody palm.
Alessandro deliberately dropped the shard of glass onto the floor, kicking it subtly toward my knees.
Ruggero did not notice, completely entirely absorbed in the sound of his own arrogant voice.
I carefully shuffled forward on my knees, covering the sharp glass with the hem of my coat.
I positioned my zip-tied wrists over the shard, preparing to cut myself free when the moment was right.
Ruggero walked over to a laptop on the dining table and inserted the stolen microchip.
May you like
He smiled triumphantly and pressed the enter key to officially secure his stolen billions.
The laptop screen suddenly flashed a blinding, violent crimson red.
