Chapter 3 - The Lethal Injection

Julian furiously pounded his fists against the heavy oak door, demanding to know why he was locked out of his own wife's bedroom.
Nurse Hayes quickly slipped the biometric scanner back into her medical bag and unlocked the deadbolt.
Julian barged into the room, his face flushed with anger as he suspiciously scanned the sterile environment.
He aggressively accused the nurse of stealing from his wealthy estate and fired her firmly on the spot.
Nurse Hayes remained perfectly calm, gathering her belongings and leaving the room without a single word of protest.

He pulled a small, unmarked glass vial from his jacket pocket and loaded a terrifyingly large syringe.

He injected the milky, unknown fluid directly into my primary intravenous line.
Within seconds, an icy, burning sensation flooded my veins, and my vision began to rapidly fade into absolute darkness.
I tried desperately to keep my eyes open, but my weakened body finally surrendered to the overwhelming chemical assault.
The deafening, continuous tone of my heart monitor flatlining was the very last sound I heard.
When I finally opened my eyes again, the luxurious warmth of my master bedroom was completely gone.

A man in a dark suit stepped out of the shadows, smiling warmly as he handed me a thick winter blanket.
