Chapter 9 - The Final Betrayal

Marco smiled wickedly, completely unbothered by the sounds of his army dying upstairs.
He gloated that he had lined the entire basement with high-grade military explosives.
He held up a small electronic detonator, his thumb resting heavily on the trigger button.
"I always knew your pathetic heart would lead you down here, Dominic," Marco sneered.
Marco demanded that Dominic surrender his entire empire legally before the explosives were triggered.
Dominic slowly stood up, placing himself entirely between Elena and the loaded gun.
He looked at his former brother with absolute, chilling calm.
"You forgot one very important rule about this life, Marco," Dominic said softly.
Marco frowned slightly, his arrogant grip tightening on the deadly detonator.
"Never turn your back to a ghost," Dominic finished.
A sudden, sharp blade pierced completely through Marco's right shoulder from behind.
Anna twisted the combat knife violently, forcing Marco to scream and drop the detonator.
She had completely ignored Dominic's orders to stay behind and had secretly followed them to the island.
Dominic lunged forward with explosive speed and tackled Marco to the hard concrete floor.
He unleashed six years of agonizing pain in a brutal, merciless barrage of heavy punches.
Marco spat out blood and laughed like a complete maniac.
He reached desperately for a hidden backup pistol strapped to his ankle.
Before Marco could even lift the barrel, a deafening gunshot echoed through the small cell.

Elena stood trembling with Dominic's dropped rifle pressed firmly against her shoulder.
Marco stared blankly at the massive hole in his own chest before collapsing dead onto the floor.
