Chapter 4 - The Bridge Ambush

Dominic reacted with the ruthless instinct that had built his criminal empire.
He unbuckled his seatbelt and fired two shots straight through the driver's seat.
The treacherous driver slumped forward against the steering wheel, completely motionless.
Dominic grabbed the terrified Mia and dragged her down onto the reinforced floorboards.
Heavy automatic gunfire erupted from the surrounding vehicles, shattering the ballistic glass.
Dominic kicked the heavy car door open, using the armored frame as a steel shield.
He returned fire with deadly precision, taking down three of Marco's mercenaries in seconds.
The element of surprise was entirely gone, but Dominic had infinite ammunition in the trunk.
He threw a smoke grenade onto the asphalt, engulfing the bridge in thick gray fog.
He scooped Mia into his arms and sprinted desperately toward the edge of the bridge.
A massive mercenary stepped out of the smoke, aiming a shotgun directly at the child.
Before Dominic could raise his weapon, a sniper bullet tore through the mercenary's skull.
The massive man collapsed into the street, completely dead.
Dominic looked up toward the rusty support beams of the bridge.
A woman in dark tactical gear dropped down gracefully from the shadows.
She lowered her sniper rifle and pulled off her black face mask.
It was Anna, the woman who had left Mia at the orphanage five years ago.

She looked at Dominic with cold, calculating eyes.
"We need to move now, because Elena is still alive," Anna said.
