Chapter 8 - The Projection

The massive eighty-inch television screen behind Vanessa violently flickered to life with a bright, undeniable clarity.

The high-definition video clearly showed Vanessa violently shoving my fragile mother onto the hard kitchen floor.

The audio blasted through the expensive surround-sound system, echoing Vanessa's cruel, highly abusive insults across the silent dining room.

The wealthy guests gasped in pure, unadulterated horror, covering their mouths as they witnessed the shocking brutality.

Vanessa spun around to face the screen, her beautiful face instantly draining of all color and turning a sickly, pale white.

"Turn that completely fabricated, fake video off right now!" she shrieked hysterically, desperately searching for a remote control.

I completely ignored her frantic screaming and simply swiped my finger across my smartphone screen to load the next file.

The screen shifted to the crystal-clear footage of the master bedroom, showcasing Vanessa and Greg passionately kissing.

The audio perfectly captured their entirely wicked conversation about forging documents and stealing my entire fortune.

Greg leapt violently from his dining chair, his expensive tuxedo suddenly feeling like a suffocating prison uniform.

"This is a massive, illegal invasion of privacy, and I will sue you for everything you have left!" Greg roared furiously.

I laughed a cold, completely humorless laugh that silenced the entire panicked room instantly.

"You cannot sue me for the house, Greg, because the ink on your forged contracts completely vanished twelve hours ago," I revealed confidently.

Greg frantically ripped open his leather briefcase, his eyes widening in absolute terror as he stared at the completely blank pages.

I swiped my phone one final time, playing the highly incriminating audio of Greg ordering the hitman to murder my mother.

The wealthy guests immediately began backing away from the table, realizing they were sitting in the same room as a murderous conspiracy.

Vanessa collapsed heavily into her chair, burying her face in her hands as her entire flawless reputation burned completely to ash.

"You really thought I came home broke and desperate, Vanessa," I announced loudly for the entire room to hear.

I proudly revealed that I had actually sold my tech shares for exactly eight million dollars in untraceable, secure offshore funds.

Vanessa's head snapped up, her eyes wide with a deeply sickening mixture of intense greed and absolute, crushing regret.

She realized that her immense cruelty and impatience had literally cost her a massive, multi-million dollar fortune.

Greg suddenly realized that his entire legal career and his absolute freedom were completely destroyed forever.

He reached desperately into his tuxedo jacket, pulling out a small, highly dangerous silver pistol.

He aimed the deadly weapon directly at my chest, completely dropping all pretenses of being a civilized, corporate lawyer.

"If I am going to spend my life in a federal prison, I am absolutely taking you with me," Greg snarled viciously.

The guests screamed in sheer terror, diving recklessly under the heavy oak dining table to completely avoid the line of fire.

I stood perfectly still, looking directly down the dark barrel of the gun without a single ounce of fear.

"You are incredibly predictable, Greg, which is exactly why I did not invite you here alone tonight," I smiled confidently.

Before Greg could completely pull the heavy trigger, the massive glass doors of the patio were violently smashed open.
