My wife accidentally grabbed a container of scalding hot water that had been prepared for cleaning the floor and put our newborn straight into the basin without checking it first.

I stood frozen in the bustling hospital lobby, gripping the hot coffee cup until my knuckles turned white.

He told me his plan was to frame Sarah for severe child abuse so she would be sent to federal prison.

With Sarah locked away and deemed an unfit mother, control of the massive trust fund would automatically default to him.

"I just needed her to make a terrible, unforgivable mistake on the record," Thomas sneered.

He ordered me to open the security application on my phone and delete the cloud footage immediately.

"If you corroborate her story about it being an accident, the baby gets to live a long, happy life," he promised.

I knew I had absolutely no other choice if I wanted to keep my son safe from this monster.

I pulled out my phone, navigated to the video archive, and permanently deleted the only evidence of his crime.

Thomas patted my cheek condescendingly and turned to walk out the front doors of the hospital.

I immediately rushed back to the interrogation rooms to tell my wife about the horrifying deal I had just made.

I bypassed the distracted social worker and slipped into the room where Sarah was sitting alone.

I quickly explained that Thomas was blackmailing us and that we had to stick to the story of a tragic accident.

Sarah wept uncontrollably, nodding her head in terrified agreement as she clung to my hands.

We were completely trapped in a nightmare, forced to accept the blame to protect our innocent baby.

Suddenly, the heavy door of the interrogation room burst open with incredible force.
