Chapter 6 - The Island Facility

The roaring blades of the massive helicopter drowned out the sound of my daughters crying.

We were bound with heavy plastic zip-ties and forced into the back of the luxury transport chopper.

Mark had been beaten brutally by the guards and sat slumped against the metal wall, his face covered in blood.

Madame Aris sat opposite us, sipping a glass of expensive champagne as if this were a routine business flight.

"You have caused me a great deal of trouble, Sarah," Aris said, her voice easily cutting through the noise.

"Where are you taking us?" I demanded, fighting against the tight plastic restraints.

"To a private island facility located strictly in international waters," she replied with a wicked smile.

"A place where the laws of your country completely cease to exist."

Evelyn stared out the window into the pitch-black night, her face pale with overwhelming dread.

"That is where you are keeping Clara," Evelyn stated, her voice shaking with emotion.

Aris nodded slowly, taking another delicate sip of her champagne.

"Clara has been a wonderful guest for the past five years, providing us with endless genetic samples," Aris mocked.

I felt a surge of violent hatred toward the elegant woman sitting across from me.

"You cannot keep us hidden forever, our family in America will start asking questions," I threatened.

"Your family in America will be told that you died in a tragic boating accident while on vacation," Aris countered smoothly.

The helicopter suddenly banked sharply, descending through a thick layer of ocean fog.

Below us, a massive, heavily fortified concrete compound emerged from the dark waters of the sea.

It looked more like a maximum-security military prison than a medical research center.

The chopper landed on a bright helipad, and the armed guards aggressively dragged us out into the freezing wind.

We were marched down a series of sterile, white hallways that smelled strongly of bleach and antiseptic.

They threw Mark and Evelyn into a cold, windowless holding cell and locked the heavy steel door.

But they did not throw me into the cell with them.

Instead, two guards grabbed my arms and ripped me away from my screaming daughters.

"Mommy!" my oldest daughter cried out, reaching her tiny hands toward me.

"Leave them alone!" I screamed, thrashing wildly against the massive guards.

Aris stepped between me and my terrified children, her eyes completely devoid of mercy.

"Put the girls in the observation wing, and take the mother to the surgical theater," Aris ordered.

"What are you going to do to me?" I asked, pure panic flooding my veins.

Aris leaned in close, her expensive perfume masking the scent of the sterile hospital corridor.

"Since you have seen too much, we are going to harvest your organs to sell on the black market," she whispered.

The guards dragged me down a dark corridor and strapped me forcefully onto a cold metal operating table.

A masked surgeon walked into the room, holding a scalpel that gleamed under the harsh surgical lights.

He leaned over me and slowly pulled down his surgical mask.

It was Dr. Vance, his hand wrapped heavily in bloody bandages from where Mark had stabbed him.

"This is going to hurt," Vance smiled maliciously.
