Chapter 2 - The Frozen Accounts

The betrayal hit me so hard I physically stumbled backward into my kitchen counter.

My own father had stamped a legal lie to help my sister steal my home.

I didn't sleep a single second that night.

By eight o'clock the next morning, I was standing inside the marble lobby of my bank.

I needed to pull every financial record, every wire transfer, and every tax return I had filed for the last five years.

The bank teller swiped my ID card, but her polite smile suddenly vanished.

She typed furiously on her keyboard, her brow furrowing in confusion.

"I am so sorry, ma'am, but I cannot access your accounts," she whispered.

Panic gripped my throat like a vice.

"What do you mean you cannot access them?" I demanded.

The branch manager stepped out from a back office, looking incredibly uncomfortable.

He informed me that a court order had been processed at midnight to freeze all my assets.

"Who filed a court order at midnight?" I asked, my voice rising in disbelief.

The manager hesitated, glancing at his computer screen.

"Your brother-in-law, Brent, filed an emergency injunction claiming you are currently in a medically induced coma and he holds your medical power of attorney."
