Chapter 7 - The Contract

Isabella demanded that Marcus sign over all his shares and empty his offshore accounts.
She gave him exactly one hour to complete the massive financial transfer.
If the money was not in her account by then, she would drop the antidote into the ocean.
Marcus did not hesitate for a single second.
He immediately called his lawyers and ordered them to draft the transfer documents.
His chief financial officer warned him that this would leave him completely bankrupt.
Marcus screamed into the phone that his money meant nothing without his wife and child.
Within forty-five minutes, the digital contracts were signed and sent to Isabella.
Isabella confirmed the receipt of the funds with a victorious laugh.
Marcus demanded to know where she had hidden the antidote.
She told him it was taped beneath the steering wheel of the destroyed ambulance.
Marcus sprinted out of the underground hospital and jumped into his security vehicle.
He drove like a madman back to the abandoned warehouse in the woods.
He found the wrecked ambulance exactly where we had left it.
He crawled through the shattered glass and reached under the steering console.
His fingers brushed against a small, cold glass tube taped to the plastic.
He ripped it free and held it up to the moonlight.
It was the blue vial Isabella had shown him on the video call.
Marcus let out a massive sigh of relief and turned to run back to his car.

But a red laser dot suddenly appeared squarely on the center of his chest.
A sniper was hiding in the trees.
