Chapter 1 - The Red Light
Marcus stood over Isabella with his chest heaving from fury.
The sharp sound of the slap still echoed off the cold walls of my private hospital suite.
My hands shook violently as I remained on the floor to shield my pregnant belly.
Isabella clutched her stinging cheek in absolute shock.
She stared at Marcus as if she could not believe what he had just done.
But her panic quickly shifted away from him.
Her desperate eyes locked onto the corner of the ceiling again.
A tiny red light blinked rhythmically from the edge of the air vent.
It was a hidden security camera that Marcus had installed for my protection after the stalking incidents last month.
Marcus noticed her gaze and slowly turned his head to look up.
Realization washed over his handsome face as he saw the blinking lens.
He slowly reached into his suit jacket and pulled out his phone.
The camera feed was directly linked to a private server on his device.
Isabella let out a terrified gasp.
She lunged forward and desperately tried to snatch the phone from his hands.
Marcus easily shoved her back into the side table.
He tapped the screen to rewind the footage from the last ten minutes.
The video clearly showed Isabella entering the room while I was sleeping.
It captured her pulling a small syringe from her designer purse.
The footage zoomed in as she injected a mysterious clear liquid into my IV bag before dragging me out of bed.
Marcus turned to her with murder in his eyes.
But before he could say a word, the hospital fire alarm suddenly blared through the speakers.
Thick gray smoke began pouring out of the ventilation shaft right above us.

She pressed a button, and the heavy metal security doors of the hospital suite slammed shut, locking us inside.
