Chapter 2 - The DNA Results

My heart pounded furiously against my ribs as I stared at the ominous text message.
I quickly silenced my phone and turned my attention back to the massive drama unfolding in the foyer.
Christopher angrily tore open the envelope, his eyes scanning the medical document with frantic desperation.
The color completely vanished from his arrogant face.
"Probability of paternity is zero percent," he read aloud, his voice cracking with pure devastation.
He slowly turned his head to look at Michelle, who was now openly weeping.
"Tell me this is some kind of sick joke engineered by my mother," Christopher pleaded.
Michelle shook her head, unable to look him in the eye as the babies began to cry.
"I swear to you, Christopher, I have never slept with your brother," Michelle sobbed hysterically.
Evelyn crossed her arms, her diamond bracelets clinking sharply in the tense silence.
"Then how do you explain the fact that you possess David Lawson's biological children?" Evelyn demanded.
Michelle sank onto the velvet entryway bench, looking completely defeated and terrified.
"It was the fertility clinic in Tucson," she confessed through her tears.
"I went there to ensure the IVF process would work on the first try so you wouldn't leave me."
Christopher took a step back, looking at the woman he had destroyed our marriage for as if she were a monster.
"You used donor material without my consent?" he shouted.
"They promised me they would use your sample, I swear they did," Michelle cried out.
I stepped out of the shadows of the library, unable to stay hidden any longer.
"They didn't make a mistake, Michelle," I said, causing all three of them to jump in shock.
"Victoria?" Christopher gasped, realizing I had witnessed his entire humiliating downfall.
I held up my phone, displaying the terrifying text message I had just received.
"Someone planned this perfectly, and they just reached out to warn me."
Before anyone could speak, the massive front doors of the estate swung open with a violent crash.
A tall, handsome man with a dark suit and a vicious smile stepped into the foyer.
It was David Lawson, and he was holding a stack of legal documents.

"Hello, little brother," David said smoothly.
"I believe you are holding my heirs, and thanks to our grandfather's trust fund rules, I now own your company."
