Chapter 2 - The Hostile Hospital

The massive man swung the metal baton directly toward Ben's head with terrifying speed.
Ben ducked underneath the brutal strike and drove his fist hard into the attacker's stomach.
The sound of the impact echoed sharply down the sterile hospital corridor.
I grabbed a heavy metal fire extinguisher from the wall bracket and hurled it at the second man.
The red cylinder struck his kneecap, sending him crashing to the polished linoleum floor with a loud curse.
Ben grabbed my wrist tightly and yanked me toward the restricted maintenance hallway.
We sprinted blindly through the narrow, dimly lit corridors as alarms began to blare overhead.
My lungs burned with every breath, but the sheer terror of my parents' betrayal kept my legs moving.
We finally found a temporary hiding spot inside an abandoned laundry supply closet.
Ben locked the heavy door and slumped against the wall, gasping for air in the absolute darkness.
I asked him how long my parents had been planning this horrific genetic sale.
He explained that Rosie possessed an extremely rare chromosomal marker that the corporation desperately wanted to replicate.
Our parents had accumulated massive underground gambling debts, and selling the twins was their only way to avoid bankruptcy.
Suddenly, the crackle of a public address speaker interrupted our quiet, desperate conversation.
The voice of the chief surgeon echoed through the entire hospital wing.
He calmly announced that the surgical intervention for Rosie had encountered catastrophic complications.
The doctor stated with fake sorrow that the patient had unfortunately not survived the delivery.
My heart shattered into a million pieces as the devastating words washed over me.
I collapsed onto the cold tile floor, sobbing uncontrollably for my sweet, innocent sister.
Ben knelt beside me, but his expression was not one of grief or surrender.
He pulled a small, glowing tracking device from his pocket and showed me the blinking green dot on the screen.
He told me to wipe my tears because the corrupt doctor was absolutely lying to everyone.
Ben revealed that he had secretly forced Rosie to swallow a micro-tracker before they arrived at the hospital.
May you like
He pointed to the screen and whispered that my sister was still very much alive.
The only problem was that the tracker showed her moving rapidly deep underground into the hospital's restricted sub-basement.
