Chapter 8 - The Forced Confession

Mrs. Whitmore was flanked by four heavily armed private security contractors.
She clapped her hands slowly, mocking their pathetic attempt to rescue her son.
She told Jordan that his bravery was admirable but ultimately foolish.
One of the guards shoved Jordan and Eli into wooden chairs and tied their wrists tightly with zip ties.
Mrs. Whitmore placed a pen and a piece of formal stationery on a small table in front of Jordan.
She demanded that he write a full confession stating he had cheated on all his exams and stolen the test answers.
She promised that if he signed the confession, she would let Eli and Bradley walk away unharmed.
She also promised to destroy the deportation orders for his mother.
If he refused, she would have her guards beat them all into a coma and deport his mother by noon.
Jordan looked at the pen, knowing that signing the paper would permanently destroy his entire life.
He looked at Eli, who desperately shook his head, begging him not to do it.
Jordan knew he had no other choice to protect the people he loved.
He leaned forward and picked up the heavy gold pen.
He began to write the false confession, his tears staining the expensive paper.
Mrs. Whitmore smiled, relishing her absolute victory over the brilliant poor boy.
Bradley watched his mother with an expression of pure, concentrated hatred.
He subtly shifted his weight in the chair, loosening a knot he had been working on for hours.
He managed to slip his hands free from the ropes without the guards noticing.
Bradley reached into his pocket and pulled out his cell phone, which the guards had foolishly forgotten to confiscate.
He quickly typed a message and hit send before throwing the phone directly at the nearest guard's head.

The heavy phone struck the guard in the eye, causing him to stumble backward in pain.
Bradley screamed for Jordan and Eli to run as he tackled his own mother to the concrete floor.
