Chapter 7 - The Desperate Play
Eli stared at the mocking note, his hands shaking with absolute fury.
Mrs. Whitmore was always three steps ahead of them.
Jordan slammed his fist against the metal lockers, the loud noise echoing down the empty corridor.
He told Eli that they had to surrender before she ruined both of their families completely.
Eli refused to give up, his brilliant mind working furiously to find a blind spot in her plan.
He remembered that Bradley's phone was configured to automatically back up all files to a private cloud server.
If they could access Bradley's cloud account, they could retrieve the digital scans of the bribery documents.
The only problem was that Bradley's account required a two-factor authentication code sent directly to his physical phone.
They needed to find Bradley, who was currently being held captive by his own mother.
Eli managed to hack into the city's traffic camera network using an old computer in the library.
He tracked the license plate of Mrs. Whitmore's black luxury sedan from the office building.
The car had not gone to their mansion, but instead drove to an abandoned warehouse on the edge of town.
The boys stole a bicycle from the school rack and rode furiously toward the industrial district.
They hid behind a stack of rusted shipping containers near the warehouse entrance.
Two large security guards were smoking cigarettes near the heavy steel door.
Eli picked up a glass bottle and threw it across the street to create a distraction.
The guards drew their weapons and walked toward the noise, leaving the door completely unguarded.
Jordan and Eli slipped inside the massive, echoing warehouse.
They found Bradley tied to a wooden chair in the center of the room, looking bruised and exhausted.
Jordan rushed forward to untie the ropes binding his friend.

Suddenly, blinding floodlights illuminated the entire warehouse, exposing them instantly.
Mrs. Whitmore stepped out of the shadows with a triumphant, evil smirk on her face.
