Chapter 10 - The Reckoning

Mrs. Whitmore turned around and stared at the giant screen in complete shock.
She dropped her microphone, her face turning entirely pale as her entire life crumbled before her eyes.
Journalists immediately began taking photos of the video and shouting aggressive questions at her.
Two local police officers who were attending the gala rushed the stage and placed her in handcuffs.
Eli then switched the projector to display the financial documents proving she had bribed testing officials.
The evidence was absolutely irrefutable and publicly broadcasted to the entire town.
Jordan, Eli, and Bradley walked out of the AV booth and stood at the top of the bleachers.
The crowd looked up at them and began to clap, a thunderous applause that shook the gymnasium walls.
Mrs. Whitmore was dragged out of the building in tears, her reputation and freedom permanently destroyed.
A few weeks later, the school board officially reinstated Jordan's Ivy League scholarship.
Bradley was emancipated from his abusive mother and enrolled in the art school of his dreams.
Eli was awarded a massive technology grant for his bravery and brilliant computer skills.
The federal authorities officially cancelled the deportation orders against Jordan's mother due to the corruption involved.
Jordan hugged his mother tightly in their small trailer, tears of pure joy streaming down both of their faces.
His future was finally secure, and the nightmare was completely over.
He walked into his bedroom to pack his bags for his upcoming college orientation.
A strange, unmarked black envelope was resting perfectly in the center of his pillow.
He opened it with trembling hands and pulled out a faded photograph of his absent father.
