Chapter 3 - The Blood Tie
Ethan felt the entire world violently spin around him as he stared at his traitorous older brother.
Marcus casually wiped the fresh blood from his combat knife using an expensive linen napkin.
"Your private security team is completely neutralized, little brother," Marcus announced with a wicked, highly satisfied smirk.
Nora walked confidently over to Marcus and kissed him deeply on the cheek.
Ethan realized with absolute horror that his wife and his brother had been secretly plotting together for years.
"You were always our father's pathetic favorite, Ethan, but tonight I take everything," Marcus growled fiercely.
Lily clung desperately to her father's leg, burying her terrified face deep into his suit trousers.
Ethan knew he absolutely had to protect his innocent daughter from these ruthless, greedy monsters.
He slowly reached for the expensive silver pen resting entirely on top of the legal documents.
"I will gladly sign absolutely everything over to you if you just let Lily walk away safely," Ethan negotiated desperately.
Marcus laughed entirely cruelly and pointed his bloody knife directly at the little girl.
"She is a massive, completely unacceptable loose end, Ethan, and she dies with you tonight," the wicked brother declared.
Ethan felt a sudden, powerful surge of pure, unadulterated parental fury completely override his fear.
He grabbed the heavy silver pen and violently stabbed it directly into Marcus's exposed, unarmored hand.
Marcus screamed in sheer agony, completely dropping his deadly combat knife onto the floor.
Ethan instantly grabbed a heavy wooden dining chair and aggressively smashed it directly over Nora's head.
The wicked woman collapsed heavily to the floor, her suppressed pistol skittering far out of her reach.
Ethan scooped Lily up into his strong arms and sprinted wildly toward the massive kitchen.
He slammed the heavy swinging doors shut and desperately engaged the heavy steel deadbolt.

Ethan aggressively pulled back the large oriental rug to completely reveal the hidden entrance to the panic room.
