Chapter 2 - The Locked Estate
Ethan stared directly down the dark barrel of the suppressed weapon in sheer disbelief.
He instinctively grabbed Lily and pulled her safely behind his broad shoulders.
"What kind of absolute monster tries to murder a father in front of his own child?" Ethan demanded furiously.
Nora simply laughed a cold, soulless laugh that echoed menacingly off the high dining room ceiling.
"The kind of monster who desperately wants your billion-dollar tech empire all to herself," she sneered maliciously.
She kicked the heavy dining room doors completely shut and locked them with a loud, terrifying click.
Nora pulled a thick stack of complicated legal documents from a hidden compartment in the sideboard.
She tossed the heavy papers forcefully onto the dining table right next to the bubbling, ruined marble.
"Sign the complete transfer of all your corporate assets to my name right now," Nora commanded fiercely.
Ethan completely refused to surrender his entire life's work to a ruthless, cold-blooded killer.
He slowly shifted his weight, secretly reaching his hand toward the panic button hidden under the mahogany table.
His fingers successfully brushed against the small plastic button, and he pressed it incredibly hard.
A silent alarm instantly alerted his elite private security team stationed in the mansion's massive basement.
Ethan stalled for precious time by pretending to carefully read the confusing legal jargon on the documents.
"You will never successfully get away with this massive crime, Nora," he stated with total confidence.
Suddenly, the locked dining room doors were violently kicked open from the outside.
Ethan expected to see his heavily armed security team rushing in to save his life.
Instead, a tall, highly intimidating man dressed completely in black tactical gear stepped into the room.

The dangerous intruder pulled off his dark mask, completely revealing his deeply familiar, heavily scarred face.
It was Ethan's own older brother, Marcus, holding a blood-stained combat knife.
