Chapter 9 - The Ultimate Betrayal

"I told you I was always the better actress," the woman in my arms whispered softly, her tone completely changing from terrified to sadistically calm.

I froze completely in place as a deeply sickening, ice-cold realization violently washed over my entire body like a tidal wave of pure dread.

I had incorrectly guessed their identities in the chaotic darkness, brutally punching the real Vanessa and willingly pulling the psychotic Valerie into a tight embrace.

Before I could even attempt to push her away, Valerie aggressively plunged a second hidden needle directly into my side, injecting a massive dose of paralyzing fluid.

My legs instantly gave out beneath me, and I collapsed heavily onto the hard dirt floor, completely unable to move my arms or legs in defense.

Valerie stood up gracefully, casually wiping the thick basement dirt from her dark clothes with a wicked, deeply arrogant smile spreading across her face.

She calmly walked over to Sophie, aggressively snatching the child's small tablet and heavily crushing it into a million pieces underneath her heavy military boot.

Laughing coldly, she grabbed a rusted metal can from the corner and began aggressively pouring highly flammable gasoline all over the wooden cellar stairs.

Valerie pulled a small matchbook from her pocket and struck a match, clearly intending to burn us alive down here once and for all.

Suddenly, the real Vanessa abruptly woke up from her severe head injury and aggressively grabbed Valerie's ankle with staggering, adrenaline-fueled force.
