Chapter 6 - The Ultimate Betrayal
Abigail dove behind a stack of wooden pallets just as bullets shattered the concrete floor.
She realized with absolute horror that Cole had betrayed her.
He had struck a better deal with Spencer during the drive over.
Spencer's voice echoed through the dark warehouse mocking her foolish trust.
He laughed and announced that he was going to take the twenty million and the life insurance money.
Abigail crawled through the darkness while bullets tore through the wood above her head.
She knew she was completely outmatched and outgunned.
But she had spent thirty four years surviving on nothing but her wits and determination.
She pulled the burner phone from her pocket and turned the flashlight on.
She tossed the glowing phone across the room to serve as a decoy.
Cole immediately opened fire on the light source from his sniper position on the catwalk.
The distraction gave Abigail exactly three seconds to move.
She sprinted toward the metal chair where Naomi was tied up.
She grabbed a jagged piece of broken glass from the floor and slashed the ropes binding Naomi's wrists.
Naomi gasped in relief and grabbed Abigail's hand tightly.
They ran blindly toward a narrow maintenance corridor at the back of the building.
Spencer screamed at his men to turn on the backup generators.
Red emergency lights flickered to life revealing their escape route.
Two heavily armed guards blocked the metal exit door.
Abigail braced herself for the inevitable end of her life.
Suddenly, Naomi let go of Abigail's hand and stopped running.
Naomi reached into her trench coat and pulled out a suppressed handgun.
She shot both guards with terrifying speed and professional precision.
Abigail stared at the pregnant woman in absolute shock.
Naomi dropped the empty magazine and turned toward Abigail with a cold smirk.
She admitted that she wasn't actually pregnant or married to Spencer.
May you like
She was an undercover federal agent investigating Spencer's organized crime syndicate.
And Abigail was currently under arrest for conspiracy to commit fraud.
