Chapter 9 - The Final Flight

I screamed my brother-in-law’s name, terrified that he had just been killed.

I scrambled out of the truck bed and climbed the dangerously crushed metal stairs.

I entered the luxurious cabin of the jet just as the thick gunpowder smoke began to clear.

My brother-in-law was standing near the cockpit, holding his heavily bleeding left arm.

The bullet had grazed his bicep deeply, but he was incredibly still standing strong.

The mother-in-law was backed completely into a corner, holding a small silver pistol.

Her hands were shaking violently as she realized she had absolutely nowhere left to run.

The baby was lying safely in a padded leather seat, crying softly but completely unharmed.

My brother-in-law stepped forward bravely, ignoring the hot blood dripping from his arm.

He told his mother that she had destroyed her own life for worthless pieces of paper.

He grabbed the baby gently from the seat, holding him securely against his broad chest.

She raised the gun again, aiming it right at her own son’s heart with tears of rage in her eyes.

She screamed that if she could not have the family fortune, nobody ever would.

Before she could pull the trigger, the mechanic threw his heavy metal wrench into the cabin.

The heavy steel tool struck her square in the wrist, shattering her bone with a sickening crack.

She dropped the gun instantly, screaming in sheer agony as she fell to her knees.

I rushed forward and kicked the deadly weapon completely out of her reach.

We tied her hands behind her back using the silk ties from the luxury seating area.

We carried the baby out of the plane, leaving her sobbing pathetically on the expensive carpet.

As we stepped off the crushed stairs, federal vehicles suddenly swarmed the airstrip.

The FBI had been monitoring the corrupt precinct for months and finally made their move.

Dozens of armed agents arrested the corrupt cops and stormed the private jet.

They dragged the mother-in-law away in heavy chains, ignoring her desperate pleas for mercy.

An EMT rushed over to bandage my brother-in-law’s bleeding arm and check his vitals.

My sister finally held her baby again, crying tears of absolute joy and immense relief.

The nightmare was essentially over, and the people responsible were going to prison forever.

We gave our detailed statements to the federal agents, ensuring the airtight case against her.

We finally drove home in a secure federal transport vehicle, exhausted but wonderfully victorious.

We truly thought the darkness had finally been purged from our family's life.

But when we opened the front door to our house, the security alarm system was already disabled.
