Chapter 7 - The Corrupt Cop

The fake detective smiled a cold, calculating smile as he placed his hand casually on his holster.

We realized instantly that this entire precinct was heavily embedded on the mother-in-law’s massive payroll.

He ordered the paramedics to step away from my sister immediately, citing a security protocol.

He told my brother-in-law that we were all under arrest for the attempted murder of his wealthy mother.

It was the ultimate frame-up, orchestrated flawlessly by a woman with infinite financial resources.

The corrupt officers grabbed my brother-in-law and slammed him brutally onto the hood of the ambulance.

They forcefully ripped my screaming nephew from my arms, despite my violent, desperate protests.

They handed the crying baby directly to the handcuffed mother-in-law sitting in the back of the cruiser.

She looked at us through the reinforced glass window, smirking in absolute triumph.

I felt a surge of adrenaline so powerful it completely blinded my rational thoughts.

I grabbed a heavy oxygen tank from the back of the open ambulance doors.

I swung it with all my might directly into the corrupt detective’s knees.

He screamed in sheer agony, collapsing to the pavement and dropping his weapon.

My brother-in-law used the chaotic distraction to elbow his captor perfectly in the jaw.

He broke free from the grip and sprinted toward the police cruiser holding his mother and his son.

The driver of the cruiser panicked and slammed his heavy boot onto the gas pedal.

The car sped away recklessly, kicking up a massive cloud of thick dust and sharp gravel.

My brother-in-law chased after it, screaming his son’s name in pure, unfiltered agony.

We were left stranded in the lot, surrounded by groaning, corrupt cops trying to recover.

We had no time to waste, so we jumped into my heavily damaged sedan.

I slammed the car into drive and sped furiously after the fleeing police cruiser.

We wove through the industrial park at reckless, terrifying speeds.

My sister cried hysterically in the passenger seat, begging me to push the engine faster.

We saw the flashing tail lights of the cruiser turning sharply onto the main highway.

I pushed the gas pedal straight to the floor, closing the distance rapidly.

We were just feet away from their bumper when a loud pop echoed through the night air.

The corrupt cop in the passenger seat was shooting at our tires from the open window.

One of the bullets struck my front tire, causing it to shred instantly into pieces.

The sedan violently swerved out of control, spinning wildly toward the steep highway embankment.
