Chapter 8 - The Boardroom Coup

The entire boardroom erupted into absolute chaos as the heavily armed federal agents aggressively secured the perimeter of the room.

Chloe stood up from her leather chair, a sickeningly victorious smile completely taking over her face.

"Thank you so much for arriving on time, Agent Marcus," Chloe proudly addressed the tall man who was clearly her older brother.

Spencer arrogantly crossed his arms over his chest, heavily leaning back against the mahogany table as if he had just won the lottery.

"Agent Marcus is here to officially seize all of your illegal financial assets under the authority of the federal government," Chloe gloated loudly for the board to hear.

"You are going away to a maximum-security prison for corporate fraud, Laura, and I am officially taking over Apex Holdings," she finalized her vicious betrayal.

Agent Marcus aggressively pulled out a thick stack of official federal warrants and slammed them down right in front of me.

"Laura Vanguard, you are hereby ordered to immediately surrender all master passwords, corporate servers, and banking access codes to the federal authorities," Marcus commanded sternly.

I slowly looked at the official federal documents, entirely unbothered by their highly coordinated, dramatic little performance.

"You really should have just stayed out of town on your business trip, Laura," Spencer mocked me with a cruel, condescending laugh.

"You could have just quietly given me the house and walked away with a tiny bit of your pathetic dignity," he insulted me further.

I calmly reached into my red designer blazer and slowly pulled out my personal cell phone.

"You know, Chloe, for an incredibly brilliant executive, you really should have properly checked your brother's actual employment status today," I told her with a chilling smile.

Chloe's confident smile instantly faltered, a flash of genuine panic finally appearing in her eyes.

"What are you talking about, my brother is a highly decorated senior agent with the FBI!" Chloe shouted defensively.

I smoothly pressed a single button on my phone, sending a pre-written text message to a very important contact outside the building.

"He was a decorated agent, right up until I personally sent the United States Attorney General concrete proof of his illegal gambling debts this morning," I revealed coldly.

Agent Marcus aggressively reached for his holstered weapon, realizing his entire corrupt plan was rapidly falling apart.

Before his hand could even touch the metal grip of his gun, the main boardroom doors were violently kicked open once again.

This time, the absolute highest-ranking members of the real federal authorities flooded into the room, accompanied by Mister Miller.

"Agent Marcus, you are officially under arrest for federal corruption, armed treason, and conspiracy to commit corporate fraud," a booming voice echoed from the hallway.

The United States Attorney General himself walked confidently into the boardroom, flanked by heavily armed United States Marshals.

Marcus instantly dropped his hands in sheer terror, allowing the Marshals to violently tackle him to the floor and apply heavy handcuffs.

Chloe fell completely back into her chair, her face draining of all color as she watched her powerful brother get ruthlessly dragged away.

Spencer's arrogant posture entirely collapsed, his eyes wildly darting around the room looking for any possible escape route.

"This is completely illegal, you cannot just arrest us without proper evidence!" Spencer screamed desperately at the Attorney General.

Mister Miller calmly stepped forward, casually dropping the thick folder of private investigator reports directly onto the table.

"We have absolute, concrete proof of your direct involvement with the Delgado cartel, your massive forged bank loans, and your fraudulent property transfers," Miller announced proudly.

Spencer rapidly backed away from the table, hyperventilating as he realized he was going to spend the rest of his life behind bars.

In a moment of pure, desperate madness, Spencer aggressively lunged toward the corner of the room.

He rapidly bent down and picked up the heavy silver revolver that Arthur Sterling had abandoned on the hallway floor earlier.

Spencer wildly spun around, aggressively aiming the shaking gun directly at my face with absolute, unhinged hatred in his eyes.
