Chapter 7 - The Counter-Offensive

Jessica's confident smirk vanished instantly as she frantically mashed the button on her useless remote detonator.

I did not give her a single second to recover from the shocking realization that she had been completely outplayed.

I kicked the discarded submachine gun up from the floor, catching it perfectly in my hands and aiming it directly at her.

Ryan shrieked in absolute panic and dove violently behind the ruined sofa, leaving his wife entirely exposed.

Jessica’s hands began to tremble as she aimed her handgun wildly, realizing she was vastly outmatched in a tactical firefight.

I barked a harsh military command, ordering her to drop the weapon and place her hands flat on the top of her head.

Instead of complying, Jessica fired a desperate, completely erratic shot that shattered a beautiful ceramic vase right next to my shoulder.

I refused to use lethal force on my own flesh and blood, so I shot the heavy wooden chandelier hanging directly above her head.

The massive fixture crashed down violently, pinning Jessica to the floor and knocking the handgun far out of her reach.

I stepped over the debris, kicked her gun across the room, and quickly secured her wrists with heavy plastic restraints.

Ryan slowly peeked his head out from behind the sofa, holding his hands up high in the air while crying hysterically.

I grabbed him by his designer belt, dragged him across the shattered glass, and tied him securely to the heavy oak dining table.

The deafening sound of military helicopters suddenly filled the night sky, rattling the remaining windows of the ruined house.

Blinding white spotlights pierced through the thick smoke, illuminating the complete devastation of my once-beautiful living room.

I grabbed my encrypted radio and broadcasted my exact position, informing the approaching strike team that the internal threats were neutralized.

I felt a brief wave of relief wash over me, believing that the nightmare was finally coming to an end.

Suddenly, a massive armored speedboat crashed violently through the wooden pylons of my private dock, sending debris flying everywhere.

Four men wearing heavy tactical armor and wielding military-grade assault rifles stormed up the lawn, heading straight for my basement door.
