Chapter 2 - The False Narrative

I slammed my truck into reverse and accelerated backward down the dirt path just as the first bullet shattered the bark of the oak tree.

My military training took over instantly, keeping my heart rate perfectly steady as I navigated the treacherous, winding forest road.

I killed the headlights and maneuvered the truck into a hidden ravine I had mapped out years ago for emergency egress.

I grabbed my tactical vest from the backseat and slipped quietly out into the freezing night air to observe my pursuers.

The two armed men swept flashlights across the empty parking spot, cursing loudly into their handheld radios.

I hacked into my own home security cameras using my encrypted phone to see what was happening on the front porch.

Ryan was standing with his arm wrapped arrogantly around Jessica, talking to another man who had just arrived in a sheriff's cruiser.

I zoomed in on the video feed and recognized the deputy as an extremely corrupt local officer named Miller.

Ryan was loudly explaining that a dangerous, mentally unstable woman had been stalking their family vacation home.

He showed Deputy Miller a piece of paper that looked exactly like a legitimate, notarized property deed bearing my forged signature.

My own sister had not just given away my keys, she had fraudulently transferred the ownership of my sanctuary to her husband.

I watched in absolute disgust as Deputy Miller nodded sympathetically and handed Ryan a loaded shotgun from his cruiser.

Just then, Davis arrived in his property management truck, holding my actual, authentic legal documents.

Deputy Miller did not even look at the real paperwork before slamming Davis against the hood of the truck and aggressively handcuffing him.

Ryan smirked and took a triumphant sip of his beer while my only local ally was hauled away on false trespassing charges.

My phone vibrated silently in my hand, displaying an urgent, top-secret message from my military command center.

The message stated that a federal alert had just been triggered from inside the classified safe room hidden in my basement.

Ryan was actively trying to drill through a titanium door that housed highly sensitive military communication servers.
