Chapter 9 - The Final Verdict

Uncle Robert stared in absolute shock at his empty, bleeding hand.

From the dark edge of the forest, dozens of federal agents stepped into the moonlight with their weapons drawn.

My lawyer, Vance, walked calmly past the agents, adjusting his expensive silk tie.

"I took the liberty of contacting the FBI regarding a deceased man buying real estate, sir," Vance said with a polite nod.

The federal agents swarmed the porch, wrestling Uncle Robert to the ground and snapping heavy steel cuffs on his wrists.

The corrupt senator screamed and cursed as his decades-long criminal empire crumbled into absolute dust.

Sarah fell to her knees in the wet grass, burying her face in her hands and weeping uncontrollably.

I stood over her, feeling a complex mixture of anger, pity, and overwhelming exhaustion.

"You brought a monster into our home because you were too proud to share our legacy," I said coldly.

"I know, Elias, I was a foolish, greedy woman," she cried, refusing to look up at me.

"I will sign whatever you want, I will leave town, just please do not send me to prison."

I pulled a crisp, folded legal document from my jacket pocket and dropped it onto the grass in front of her.

"This is a total relinquishment of all your rights to Thorne Manor and the family trust," I explained.

"Sign it now, and you can walk away from this town with absolutely nothing but the clothes on your back."

Sarah did not hesitate for a single second.

She pulled a gold pen from her ruined designer jacket and signed her name with trembling fingers.

I picked up the document and handed it securely to Vance.

"Escort my sister to the city limits, and make sure she never returns," I commanded the federal agents.

I watched silently as Sarah was led away into the dark night, completely stripped of her power and her pride.

The flashing lights of the FBI vehicles finally faded into the distance, leaving the estate completely quiet.

I turned around and walked slowly up the steps of Thorne Manor.

For the first time in ten long years, the beautiful house truly belonged to me again.

I walked into the grand foyer and took a deep breath of the cool, clean air.

My phone vibrated with a message from Marcus, confirming that Lily was completely safe.
