Chapter 10 - The New Dawn

The morning sun rose warmly over the beautiful gardens of Thorne Manor.
A massive team of professional cleaners and contractors had already arrived to restore the damaged foyer.
I stood on the grand porch, holding a steaming mug of black coffee in my hand.
A sleek black car pulled up the freshly raked gravel driveway.
Marcus stepped out of the driver's seat and opened the back door with a wide, genuine smile.
Lily jumped out of the car, wearing a beautiful new yellow dress that caught the morning light perfectly.
She ran up the steps and threw her small arms tightly around my waist.
"Is this really our home now, Daddy?" she asked, looking up at the massive, beautiful mansion.
"It is all yours, sweetheart, and nobody will ever make you sleep in the cold again," I promised, kissing her forehead.
We spent the entire afternoon exploring the massive gardens, the empty stables, and the beautiful library.
Lily's laughter echoed brightly through the long hallways, completely erasing the dark history of the past decade.
I had successfully secured our family legacy, removed the toxic poison of my sister, and protected my child from a global syndicate.
The war was finally over, and the peace I had fought so desperately for was finally mine to enjoy.
We sat together on the front porch swing as the sun began to set behind the distant mountains.
I tucked Lily into her warm, soft bed that night and turned on a small starlight projector for her.
Everything was finally perfect and safe in our newly reclaimed world.
Then my encrypted satellite phone vibrated violently on the heavy oak nightstand.

A single text message flashed brightly on the screen from an unknown, untraceable number.
"Sarah and Robert were just our pawns, Elias, and the real owners of this land are coming for the girl next."
