Chapter 7 - The Broken Rules

The deafening sound of a gunshot echoed violently through the massive warehouse.
But the bullet did not strike my father's chest.
Tyler had suddenly launched himself across the balcony, tackling his own father, Mr. Vance, who had just tried to shoot my dad to prove his loyalty.
The wild gunshot shattered the glass light fixtures above the arena, raining sharp debris down upon the panicked crowd.
Mr. Vance screamed in absolute fury, struggling fiercely to push his own teenage son off of him.
"What are you doing, Tyler?!" Mr. Vance roared, violently striking his son in the face.
"They are just going to kill us too when this is over, Dad!" Tyler shouted back, desperately wrestling for the weapon.
The sudden, chaotic distraction gave my father exactly the momentary opening he desperately needed.
My dad violently twisted his bound wrists, brutally snapping the heavy metal chain against the sharp edge of the railing.
He instantly disarmed the two guards standing next to him with terrifying, blinding speed.
Silas cursed loudly, realizing he had entirely lost control of his carefully orchestrated execution.
My father leaped gracefully down from the high balcony, landing heavily in the sand right beside me.
"Are you hurt, Lily?" he asked frantically, quickly checking my arms for any serious injuries.
"I am fine, Dad," I replied, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the greatest fighter in the world.
Dozens of heavily armed Syndicate guards began flooding into the arena, completely surrounding us in the fighting pit.
We fought together as a perfectly synchronized team, completely dismantling the first wave of attackers.
My father delivered devastating, crushing blows while I used my small size to sweep legs and disarm opponents.
We slowly fought our way out of the pit, moving aggressively toward the cage where Emma was still trapped.
Tyler managed to knock his corrupt father completely unconscious on the balcony, grabbing a set of heavy keys from a fallen guard.
He sprinted down the metal stairs, throwing the keys directly into my father's waiting hands.
"I was completely wrong about you, Lily," Tyler said, breathing heavily as he joined our defensive circle.
Silas realized his massive army was actively losing a hand-to-hand battle against a legendary assassin and a little girl.
He rushed toward the heavily armored control room overlooking the warehouse floor, sealing the thick steel door behind him.

A loud, automated siren suddenly began blaring throughout the facility, flashing bright red warning lights everywhere.
"Facility self-destruct protocol initiated," a robotic voice announced coldly over the intercom system.
