Chapter 4 - The School Bully

The blinding white spotlight forced me to cover my eyes, completely exposing my hiding spot in the center of the warehouse.

"Lily, it's a trap!" Emma screamed frantically from inside her cold metal cage.

I immediately dropped into a defensive martial arts stance, my eyes rapidly adjusting to the harsh glare of the light.

Heavy, deliberate footsteps echoed across the concrete floor, emerging from the dark shadows behind the spotlight.

Tyler walked into the circle of light, wearing a customized black tactical uniform that looked far too professional for a teenager.

He was no longer acting like an angry, undisciplined school bully.

His posture was entirely rigid, his fists perfectly clenched, and his eyes completely devoid of emotion.

"You really thought I was just some random kid trying to steal a snack?" Tyler asked with a cold, arrogant smirk.

"My father placed me in that school specifically to test your reflexes and determine if you were truly his daughter."

I stared at him, realizing the entire schoolyard confrontation had been a carefully orchestrated combat assessment.

"Let Emma go right now, Tyler," I demanded, keeping my voice incredibly steady despite the fear rising in my chest.

"She has absolutely nothing to do with your twisted games."

Tyler laughed maliciously, cracking his knuckles as he stepped aggressively into my personal space.

"She is collateral damage, Lily, and she only goes free if you can actually beat me in a real fight."

He did not wait for my answer before launching a devastatingly fast spinning kick directly at my head.

I ducked underneath his leg, feeling the harsh wind of his strike ruffle my hair.

He was incredibly fast, heavily trained in the lethal striking arts of the Syndicate.

He threw a rapid combination of heavy punches, forcing me backward toward the solid steel bars of Emma's cage.

I deflected his strikes using the fluid, circular blocking techniques my father had drilled into my muscle memory.

Tyler grew completely frustrated by his inability to land a solid blow on a nine-year-old girl.

He overextended his right arm, throwing a massive, sloppy haymaker aimed directly at my jaw.

I stepped swiftly inside his guard, wrapping my arm securely around his extended elbow.

I twisted my hips and flipped his entire body weight over my shoulder, slamming him violently onto the hard concrete floor.

Tyler gasped for air, completely stunned by the sheer impact of the throw.

Before I could restrain him, a slow, mocking applause echoed from a steel balcony high above us.

Silas stood looking down at the warehouse floor, wearing an immaculate gray suit and an arrogant smile.

He held a heavy, suppressed pistol aimed directly at my father's head, who was chained securely to the balcony railing.
