Chapter 7 - The Custody Trap

I stared blindly at the laptop screen as the helicopter blades began to spin wildly in the video feed.

Chloe was stealing my newborn babies and taking them to an undisclosed location.

I ordered Julian to contact the federal aviation authorities and ground that flight immediately.

Julian rapidly typed on his keyboard, deploying illegal hacking software to intercept the helicopter’s flight path.

He told me the aircraft was not registered to any domestic flight logs.

It was a ghost flight, completely off the grid and untraceable by standard radar.

I grabbed my coat and ran toward the elevator, refusing to sit in a boardroom while my children were kidnapped.

Julian followed me, calling his private security contractors to meet us at the airfield.

We drove like maniacs through the city, breaking every speed limit to reach the private tarmac.

When we finally burst through the chain-link gates of the airfield, the helicopter was already hovering twenty feet in the air.

I jumped out of the moving SUV and ran directly toward the massive downdraft of the spinning blades.

I screamed for them to stop, waving my arms frantically as the rain whipped against my face.

Suddenly, four heavily armed federal agents stepped out from the shadows of a nearby hangar.

They raised their tactical weapons and ordered the helicopter pilot to kill the engine immediately.

The pilot complied, terrified by the laser sights aimed directly at his cockpit window.

The heavy rotors slowly ground to a halt, and absolute silence fell over the dark tarmac.

I rushed toward the side door of the helicopter, my heart practically leaping out of my chest with relief.

I yanked the sliding door open, fully expecting to see my three beautiful babies sleeping in their incubators.

I climbed inside the dark cabin and looked frantically around the empty space.

There were no incubators, there were no babies, and Chloe was nowhere to be found.

The only thing sitting on the leather seats was a cheap plastic doll wrapped in a bloody hospital blanket.

Pinned to the doll’s chest was a handwritten note from Grant.

The note simply read, "Did you really think I would make it this easy to find them?"
