Chapter 10 - The False Victory

I ignored Grant's terrifying laughter and forced the location out of his defeated corporate lawyers.

Julian and I led a massive convoy of federal police directly to the private biological research facility on the edge of the city.

We smashed through the heavy glass doors, armed with emergency court orders and a dozen tactical officers.

The facility directors surrendered immediately, completely terrified by the overwhelming show of legal and physical force.

They frantically led me down a sterile, white hallway toward the high-security neonatal wing.

My heart soared with an indescribable, overwhelming joy as I looked through the observation window.

There were three small, state-of-the-art incubators resting peacefully in the center of the warm room.

I burst through the doors, tears streaming violently down my face as I finally reunited with my children.

I reached gently into the warm plastic boxes, softly stroking their tiny, fragile hands.

Julian stood proudly in the doorway, officially congratulating me on winning my life, my company, and my family back from the brink of destruction.

The nightmare was finally over, and Grant would spend the rest of his miserable life rotting in a federal prison cell.

I smiled brightly, feeling a profound sense of absolute victory wash over my tired soul.

I carefully lifted the tiny identification blanket to check the medical bracelet on the first baby's delicate wrist.

My smile slowly vanished, and my blood turned to absolute, freezing ice in my veins.

I stared in sheer horror at the blood types printed clearly on the white plastic hospital tags.

The blood types listed for all three infants were biologically impossible for Grant and me to produce.

These sweet, perfectly sleeping infants were absolutely not my biological triplets.

My real children were still out there somewhere, completely missing, and a sinister new game had just begun.
