Chapter 4 - Blood and Secrets
Sarah stared in absolute disbelief at the face of her older brother.
Marcus had officially died in a military helicopter crash three years ago.
He stood perfectly alive and heavily armed in the abandoned subway tunnel.
Marcus rushed forward and completely covered her mouth with his hand.
He ordered her to stay completely silent as heavy footsteps echoed above them.
The corrupt bank manager and his men were searching the streets directly over their heads.
Marcus pulled Sarah and the boy deeper into the dark underground maze.
He explained that he had faked his own death to completely infiltrate the Blackwood Syndicate.
He had been working as a shadow operative to destroy them from the inside.
Sarah pushed him away angrily and demanded the entire truth.
Marcus admitted that he knew the boy was coming to the bank today.
He revealed that the boy's mother was the chief accountant for the criminal empire.
She had stolen the drive to completely dismantle the cartel.
The boy listened quietly without showing any emotion at all.
Marcus demanded that Sarah hand over the blue drive immediately.
He claimed he needed it to finally finish his dangerous mission.
Sarah hesitated because she no longer entirely trusted her own blood.
The boy suddenly stepped between them and shook his head.
He stated firmly that the drive could only go to his mother.
Marcus sighed heavily and pulled out a encrypted satellite phone.
He dialed a secure number and put the device on speaker.
A woman's exhausted voice answered the call after three rings.
The boy finally broke his cold demeanor and let out a soft cry.
His mother was actually alive and completely unharmed.
But the relief was violently shattered a second later.
A different voice echoed through the phone speaker.

He thanked Marcus for successfully delivering the boy directly into his trap.
