Chapter 3 - The Vault Run
The bullets shattered the concrete walls just inches from Sarah's head.
She dragged the boy aggressively down the spiraling staircase.
They reached the massive steel door of the subterranean vault.
Sarah swiped her employee badge to unlock the outer gate.
The boy remained terrifyingly calm despite the lethal danger.
He looked directly at the glowing blue drive in her hand.
He told her that the drive contained the names of every corrupt politician in the country.
Sarah felt her stomach completely drop at the horrifying revelation.
She realized the entire government would want them both dead.
They finally pushed through the heavy steel vault doors.
The massive room was lined with endless rows of safety deposit boxes.
Sarah rushed to a secure computer terminal in the corner of the vault.
She needed to see exactly what kind of target was painted on their backs.
She plugged the glowing blue drive into the USB port.
The screen immediately flashed red with a biometric warning.
The boy stepped forward and placed his small thumb on the scanner.
The files instantly unlocked and flooded the screen with dark secrets.
Footsteps echoed violently down the concrete stairwell outside the vault.
The manager was coming for them with heavily armed backup.
Sarah desperately searched the vault for another exit.
She spotted an old ventilation shaft hidden behind a massive shelf.
They climbed frantically into the dusty metal tunnel.
They crawled for what felt like hours through the absolute darkness.
They finally dropped out of the shaft into an abandoned subway tunnel.
Sarah collapsed onto the dirt floor in sheer exhaustion.
A bright tactical flashlight suddenly blinded them both.
A man in military gear stepped out of the shadows.
