Chapter 1 - The Shattered Cup

Morning sunlight poured heavily through the towering windows of the luxurious Ashford Estate.

The grand breakfast table was flawlessly set with silver cutlery and fresh tropical fruit.

Everything looked incredibly peaceful and absolutely perfect.

Christopher Ashford adjusted his tailored navy silk tie as he prepared to leave for a massive corporate board meeting.

Across the marble table stood his beautiful fiancée, Vivian.

She was wrapped tightly in a luxurious white silk robe.

She smiled with overwhelming warmth as she handed him a delicate porcelain cup.

"I made your absolute favorite dark roast coffee," she whispered softly.

Christopher smiled back at the woman he planned to marry.

"Thank you, my love," he replied gently.

He raised the steaming cup slowly toward his lips.

"Sir, please do not drink that!"

A terrified, desperate voice echoed loudly through the silent dining room.

Emily, one of the youngest household maids, sprinted frantically into the room.

Without slowing down for a single second, she violently struck the cup right out of Christopher's hand.

The hot coffee splashed aggressively across the pristine marble floor.

The expensive porcelain exploded into dozens of sharp pieces.

Christopher stared at the shattered mess in total disbelief.

"What is the meaning of this extreme behavior?" he demanded.

Emily breathed heavily, her hands shaking as she pointed a trembling finger directly at Vivian.

"She slipped something highly toxic into your drink."

Vivian let out a nervous, high-pitched laugh.

"This pathetic girl is making ridiculous, insane accusations."

Emily reached deep into her white apron pocket and pulled out a tiny, empty glass vial.

"I saw it roll under the mahogany cabinet after she poured it into your cup."

Christopher slowly took the vial, examining the clear, suspicious drops clinging to the glass.

He looked back at his fiancée with a darkened, highly suspicious expression.

"If you are truly innocent, Vivian, then I want you to prepare another cup with these exact same ingredients."

He commanded her to drink it right in front of him.

Vivian's face instantly turned the color of chalk.

She took a frightened step backward and completely refused to answer.

Emily wiped a single tear from her cheek.

"I heard her on the phone last night saying that once you signed today's merger documents, you would never wake up again."

Without another word, Christopher pressed the emergency security button hidden beneath the dining table.

He waited for his highly trained estate guards to rush in and arrest the treacherous woman.

Heavy combat boots echoed down the hallway as the security team finally entered the room.

But instead of grabbing Vivian, the Head of Security pulled out his gun and aimed it directly at Christopher's head.
