Chapter 6 - The Federal Strike

I stared at the laptop screen in complete, paralyzing horror as the horrific video played.
My mother and sister had not just neglected Gwen's cancer treatment out of pure greed.
They had actively and systematically poisoned my fragile, helpless wife to accelerate her death for the insurance payout.
Every single moment Gwen spent in that damp storage room, she was being slowly murdered by my own family.
I violently slammed the laptop shut, shoving the stolen letters, the insurance fraud documents, and the USB drive into my duffel bag.
I pulled out my secure military phone and dialed a highly classified number for the Army Criminal Investigation Division.
My former commanding officer, Major Hayes, answered on the second ring.
I quickly explained the severe magnitude of the fraud, the forged signatures, and the undeniable video evidence of attempted murder.
Major Hayes was completely furious, promising to deploy a federal strike team to the house immediately.
I walked back down the grand staircase, my face set in a cold, deadly mask of pure vengeance.
The lavish dinner party had completely dissolved into absolute, humiliating chaos.
The wealthy guests had all fled the house, absolutely terrified by the presence of the notorious loan shark.
Victor Vance’s bodyguards were physically throwing Margaret’s expensive designer furniture out onto the front lawn.
Margaret was sitting on the bare hardwood floor, sobbing uncontrollably as she watched her fake empire crumble.
Paige was desperately begging Victor for an extension, offering to sell her expensive jewelry to cover the debt.
Victor just laughed in her face, tossing a heavy garbage bag at her feet and telling her to pack her pathetic belongings.
I walked directly over to my mother, standing tall in my military dress uniform.
She looked up at me with genuine, terrified tears, begging me to use my emergency savings to save them from the streets.
I calmly leaned down and whispered directly into her ear that I had found the hidden safe in her closet.
Margaret’s entire body went rigidly still, her eyes widening in absolute, horrific panic.
She scrambled backward like a trapped animal, realizing that her ultimate, unforgivable crime had finally been discovered.
She screamed at Paige to run, violently pushing past the bodyguards and sprinting toward the front door.
But the moment Margaret threw the heavy oak door open, a blinding spotlight hit her directly in the face.
Red and blue police lights aggressively illuminated the entire front yard, completely surrounding the property.
A dozen heavily armed federal military police officers stormed up the front steps, their tactical weapons drawn and ready.
Major Hayes stepped out of a black SUV, holding a thick stack of federal arrest warrants in his hand.
He loudly announced that Margaret and Paige were under arrest for federal wire fraud, identity theft, and the attempted murder of a military dependent.
Margaret screamed hysterically, fighting wildly as two officers slammed her forcefully against the hood of a police cruiser.
Paige dropped to the floor inside the house, completely sobbing and wetting herself in sheer terror as they slapped heavy steel handcuffs on her wrists.
I stood calmly on the porch, watching the two monsters who destroyed my wife’s life finally lose their precious freedom forever.
Victor Vance tipped his hat to me in a silent gesture of respect before walking away into the night.
I grabbed my duffel bag, completely turning my back on the house that had been built on my wife's immense suffering.
I ordered a private car and rushed directly to the secure recovery hotel to finally be with Gwen.

When I opened the door to her suite, my heart completely stopped beating in my chest.
Gwen was lying unconscious on the floor, and a tall, strange man in a dark suit was standing directly over her frail body.
