Chapter 8 - The Final Stand

Arthur did not look surprised to see a supposedly dead man standing in his hallway.
He took a slow sip of his expensive scotch and smiled a wicked, arrogant smile.
"I always knew you were too stubborn to die quietly, Marcus," the corrupt lawyer laughed.
Marcus charged forward, tackling the older man violently to the marble floor.
He raised the heavy steel scalpel to Arthur's throat, demanding to know exactly where his son was.
Arthur simply chuckled, a dark and wet sound that sent chills down Marcus's spine.
"If you kill me, the bomb strapped to your precious boy will detonate instantly," Arthur gasped out.
Marcus froze, the scalpel hovering mere inches from the lawyer's jugular vein.
Suddenly, a hidden door behind the grand staircase hissed open.
Dr. Vance walked into the foyer, aggressively dragging a crying Leo by his small arm.
The boy was wearing a heavy, blinking tactical vest wired with dangerous explosives.
"Drop the blade, Marcus, or I press this button," Vance yelled, holding up a small black detonator.
Eleanor stepped into the doorway behind Marcus, her eyes widening in sheer panic at the sight of her son.
Marcus slowly lowered the scalpel, knowing he had been completely outplayed by these monsters.
Arthur stood up, brushing the dust off his expensive suit and straightening his tie.
He ordered Vance to shoot Marcus in the head and finally end this ridiculous drama.

Vance raised his weapon, pointing it directly at Marcus's forehead.
But instead of shooting Marcus, Dr. Vance turned the gun and fired a single bullet directly into Arthur's chest.
