Chapter 4 - The Cellar

The deafening sound of alarms instantly shattered the quiet morning across the entire estate.

Guards rushed into the kitchen with their weapons drawn and ready to fire.

Medics frantically loaded Enzo onto a stretcher and sprinted toward the medical wing.

Norah stood completely frozen in terror with her hands raised high in the air.

Vincent’s hands were shaking as he kept the gun aimed perfectly between her eyes.

He ordered his men to drag her down to the interrogation cellar immediately.

Rough hands grabbed Norah’s arms and violently hauled her out of the kitchen.

They dragged her down three flights of concrete stairs into a damp, freezing basement.

She was shoved roughly into a metal chair located in the center of a windowless room.

The heavy steel door slammed shut, plunging her into total, terrifying darkness.

Norah sobbed quietly, realizing that her life was completely over.

She knew they would torture her until she confessed to a crime she did not commit.

An hour later, the harsh overhead lights suddenly clicked on, temporarily blinding her.

Vincent walked slowly into the room, looking weaker and paler than he had upstairs.

He leaned heavily against the concrete wall and stared at her with an unreadable expression.

Norah begged him to believe that she did not put anything in the food.

She cried out that someone had snuck into the kitchen and planted a vial to frame her.

Vincent remained completely silent as he pulled a small object from his pocket.

He tossed it onto the metal table located directly in front of her.

It was the empty glass vial that Norah had hidden in her apron pocket.

Vincent stated quietly that his guards had found it during a thorough search of her uniform.

Norah squeezed her eyes shut, knowing this evidence sealed her deadly fate.

Then, Vincent sighed heavily and sat down in the chair opposite her.

He calmly explained that the lab had already tested the residue inside the glass vial.

The liquid was not a lethal poison designed to kill a mafia boss.

It was a highly concentrated, fast-acting heavy metal that specifically targeted the lungs.

Vincent leaned forward and stared deeply into her terrified, tear-filled eyes.

May you like

He whispered that the assassin was never trying to kill him this morning.

The poison was specifically designed to permanently silence the underboss who tasted his food.
