Chapter 17 - The Apex Predator

Vincent’s dark brown eyes instantly shifted into a terrifying, pitch-black void as he watched the needle pierce Norah’s skin.
The glowing silver veins across his chest suddenly flared with a blinding, violent intensity.
The automated medical monitors attached to his body began to shriek in a panicked, high-pitched frenzy.
Director Sterling frowned in confusion, tapping the glass wall and demanding the technicians increase his sedatives.
But the chemical sedatives were completely useless against the sudden, explosive surge of his mutation.
Vincent let out a deafening, inhuman roar that visibly shook the reinforced glass separating the rooms.
He flexed his arms, and the massive, electrified steel chains began to groan and bend under his sheer physical power.
With one violent, agonizing pull, Vincent completely ripped the titanium bolts directly out of the concrete ceiling.
He tore the extraction tubes from his arms, completely ignoring the silver blood spilling onto the pristine white floor.
Sterling dropped the syringe in absolute terror and scrambled backward toward the laboratory’s heavy security doors.
She frantically screamed for the heavily armed containment team to breach the holding cell immediately.
A dozen soldiers flooded into Vincent’s room, firing specialized electrical harpoons directly at his chest.
The harpoons struck him, sending tens of thousands of volts of electricity coursing through his mutated body.
Vincent did not fall; he simply stood there, absorbing the lethal current with a dark, murderous smile.
He grabbed the thick steel cables of the harpoons and violently yanked them forward.
Three heavily armored soldiers were thrown across the room, smashing brutally into the concrete walls.
Vincent moved with a speed that the human eye simply could not track.
He became a lethal, beautiful blur of violence, tearing through the elite soldiers like they were made of wet paper.
He grabbed a discarded heavy assault rifle and effortlessly crushed the steel barrel with a single hand.
When the room was completely silent and painted red, Vincent turned his pitch-black eyes toward the glass wall.

Director Sterling stood frozen in absolute horror as Vincent pulled his fist back and struck the glass.
The supposedly unbreakable, military-grade barrier completely shattered into a million jagged pieces.
