Chapter 9 - The Ultimate Sacrifice
Rocco braced himself for the absolute agony of the sniper bullet tearing through his chest.
Instead, he watched in complete shock as Julian violently dropped his rifle and collapsed.
A massive, perfectly placed bullet had struck Julian directly in his right shoulder.
Director Vance and her elite federal tactical team suddenly swarmed the entire dockyard.
They had secretly tracked the GPS signal on Bianca's stolen cell phone directly to this location.
The federal agents ruthlessly engaged the completely disorganized cartel mercenaries in a fierce firefight.
Within mere minutes, Julian's entire criminal army was completely neutralized and heavily handcuffed.
Firetrucks arrived immediately with loud sirens, quickly extinguishing the raging warehouse fire below them.
Federal medics rushed up to the roof with heavy ladders to treat Elena's severe gunshot wound.
Rocco held Noah tightly, tears of pure relief streaming rapidly down his dirty face.
He walked slowly over to the edge of the roof and looked down at his defeated brother.
Julian was bleeding heavily, aggressively screaming legal threats at the unbothered federal agents.
Director Vance climbed up to the roof and approached Rocco with a completely serious expression.
"Your brother has been officially arrested for domestic terrorism and attempted murder," Vance confirmed.
"What exactly happens to my son now?" Rocco asked, fiercely protecting the boy in his arms.
"The Moretti cartel was completely dismantled this morning using the data we recovered from Julian," she explained.
Vance handed Rocco a set of completely forged, highly official adoption papers.
"Noah is legally and permanently yours, Mr. Bellacorte, with absolutely no strings attached," Vance promised softly.
Rocco felt a massive, crushing weight completely lift off his exhausted shoulders.
He turned around and walked over to the medical stretcher where Elena was resting.
"I completely forgive you for lying to me," Rocco whispered, gently holding her good hand.

Elena smiled beautifully, her eyes completely filled with genuine, unspoken love.
Suddenly, a heavily encrypted burner phone inside Rocco's pocket began to ring loudly.
