Chapter 5 - The Desperate Bargain
The deafening roar of the helicopter blades completely drowned out Noah's terrified crying.
Rocco fiercely shielded both his son and the bleeding nanny with his own body.
The helicopter slowly descended into a small clearing just a few yards away.
To Rocco's absolute shock, the helicopter did not bear the deadly Moretti family crest.
It belonged to the federal government's most elite tactical response unit.
Dozens of heavily armed federal agents swarmed the clearing and instantly secured the dangerous perimeter.
A tall, stern-looking woman in a sharp business suit stepped out of the chopper.
"I am Director Vance, and you are currently trespassing on federal property," she announced loudly.
Rocco slowly lowered his weapon but kept Noah securely hidden behind his back.
"My brother is actively trying to murder us, we need immediate medical help," Rocco demanded.
Director Vance looked at the profusely bleeding Elena and smirked coldly.
"Agent Elena was officially disavowed by our agency six months ago," Vance revealed shockingly.
Rocco looked at the woman who had repeatedly saved his life tonight in complete confusion.
"She was initially assigned to assassinate you, Mr. Bellacorte," the Director stated flatly.
Elena coughed up blood and desperately tried to sit up against the tree.
"I completely abandoned my mission because I genuinely fell in love with you and Noah," Elena confessed weakly.
Rocco felt his entire world violently turn upside down once again.
"We will happily save her life and protect your son, but you have to give us the digital drive," Vance bargained.
