Chapter 9 - The Final Confrontation

Alexander quickly grabbed two emergency hazmat masks from a wall dispenser and tossed one to Maya.

They strapped the protective gear over their faces to avoid breathing in the deadly airborne agent.

He kicked open the double doors leading down into the lower containment levels of the lab.

He found Victoria standing inside the central glass vault, bathed in harsh emergency lighting.

She was holding a glowing blue glass vial delicately in her gloved hands.

Victoria looked up and smiled maliciously through the thick glass wall separating them.

"You took absolutely everything from me, Alexander!" her voice echoed through the intercom system.

"So I am going to take the entire world away from you."

Alexander realized she planned to release the concentrated toxin directly into the city's main water supply.

He ignored her crazed rambling and ran to the master security terminal near the vault door.

He quickly bypassed the encrypted security grid using his creator-level access codes.

The heavy vault door hissed loudly and slid open, exposing Victoria to the outside air.

Alexander raised his weapon and ordered her to put the deadly vial down immediately.

Victoria dropped the glass vial onto the steel floor, but it did not shatter.

It merely bounced harmlessly and rolled toward Alexander's heavy leather boots.

Victoria threw her head back and began to laugh hysterically in the sterile room.

"That is just colored water, Alexander," she mocked with a triumphant sneer.

"You are way too late to stop the real deployment."
