Chapter 1 - The Death Trap

Alexander stared at the glowing screen of his phone in absolute disbelief.
The threatening message from his wife burned into his mind like toxic acid.
He had built a global corporate empire worth ten billion dollars, but he felt completely powerless in this exact moment.
He looked down at the little girl who was still gripping his expensive sleeve.
She was shaking violently in the biting autumn wind.
Her small face was pale with a terror that no child should ever have to experience.
Alexander slowly slipped his phone back into the inner pocket of his cashmere coat.
He raised his hands slowly to show the waiting driver that he was not going to fight.
"It is going to be alright," Alexander whispered gently to the terrified child.
"I am going to get in the car with you."
The driver offered a perfect, chilling smile that did not reach his cold eyes.
The man bowed slightly and pulled the rear door of the black luxury vehicle wider.
Alexander took a deep breath and stepped forward onto the plush interior carpet.
He reached his hand out and gently pulled the little girl in right beside him.
The driver immediately slammed the heavy armored door shut with a deafening thud.
A loud mechanical click echoed through the silent cabin instantly.
The security locks engaged with a heavy, final sound.
Alexander grabbed the interior door handle and pulled it sharply.
It was completely dead.
The driver slid smoothly behind the steering wheel and ignored the ignition button.
Instead, the man reached under the dashboard and pressed a hidden red switch.
A loud hissing sound erupted from the front of the vehicle.
Thick white gas immediately began pouring through the air conditioning vents into the back seat.
The little girl screamed loudly and covered her face with her small, trembling hands.
Alexander refused to panic in the face of death.
He was a ruthless businessman who had prepared for situations exactly like this one.
He twisted the dial on his custom titanium watch to expose a hidden tungsten spike.
He swung his arm back and slammed his fist against the reinforced passenger window with brutal force.
The specialized glass spider-webbed instantly on the first heavy strike.
He gritted his teeth and hit it a second time, shattering the bulletproof barrier completely.
Freezing fresh air rushed into the toxic, smoke-filled cabin.
Alexander grabbed the little girl by the waist and shoved her out through the jagged hole.
He scrambled out onto the pavement right behind her, coughing heavily as the chemical gas burned his throat.
He immediately shielded the child with his body, fully expecting the driver to step out and open fire.
Instead, the driver simply locked the front doors and rolled up the privacy partition.
The man turned around slowly and looked directly at Alexander through the shattered rear window.

"He took the bait," the driver stated loudly to a hidden camera mounted on the rearview mirror.
Then the driver pulled a suppressed pistol from his jacket and shot himself firmly in the head.
